Now it's official - Maribor introduces Đalović: I believe we will cooperate well and achieve the desired results

The negotiations were completed successfully, the contract was signed, and then the promotion followed - Radomir Đalović is officially the coach of Slovenian Maribor, the club confirmed.

Đalović has signed a two-year contract, will have his first training session tonight, and will make his debut on the bench against Mura, at home in the eighth round of the domestic championship, on Saturday (20:15).

"It is a great honor and great pleasure for me to become the coach of the most trophy-winning club in Slovenia. Together with my colleagues, we will do everything to return Maribor to its former successful path. I would like to thank the owner, president and directors who gave me the opportunity. I believe that we will cooperate well and achieve the desired results. We have signed a two-year contract and I expect that we will achieve great things during that period," said Đalović.

After seven rounds of the domestic championship, Maribor is in fifth place with 11 points, 10 less than the leader Celje.

"We are not in a good situation, Celje escaped us, but we have good players and great fans, who I would like to invite to join us on Saturday. We will do everything in our power to rise from game to game and bring Maribor to where it belongs," said Đalović.

Đalović has been a candidate for the Maribor coach position for some time, and Slovenian portal "Ekipa" wrote today that there was a twist in the negotiations, as one of the parties involved allegedly changed the already agreed terms of the contract. However, a little later, confirmation came from the club that Đalović would lead the team that was the 16-time champion of Slovenia.

"Maribor has always been known for its aggressiveness, running, and fighting spirit to the last atom of strength. We will try to bring back the attitude that Maribor had and that the fans love. The short-term goals are to stabilize as quickly as possible and return to the top. The long-term goals are, of course, related to trophies," said Đalović.

Đalović is Maribor's third coach since the start of the season. Tugberk Tanrivermiš was fired after just 49 days in charge, during which the team was eliminated from Europe, and was succeeded by Radomir Karanović, who led Maribor for two games.

Last season, in his first season as a club manager, Đalović won the double with Rijeka, and this summer he led the club from "Rujevica" into the group stage of the Conference League.

"After a thorough and extensive process, we are delighted to have agreed to work with Radomir, whose ambitions match ours. During our meetings, there was a corresponding passion and enthusiasm, and we share similar ideas about the type of football we want to play. Radomir has proven himself with a winning mentality. Last year, he won the Croatian championship and the Cup, which proves that he can bring success and cope with the pressure of a big club. I believe we have the right person to lead our team forward and enable our passionate fans to enjoy the games. My vision has not changed since the first day I took over the club. I believe Radomir is the right choice and we look forward to a successful continuation of the 2025/26 season with optimism.
