Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique said that the team's goal is to win a second consecutive Champions League title and said that the trophy is the most difficult to win for the first time.
"The first title is always the most difficult because the players don't think they are capable of winning it. But we have paved the way. Now, the whole club, the city and the players want to win it because they know they are capable. I think it is harder to win it the first time than the second or third," Enrique told reporters in Paris.
Paris Saint-Germain players begin their Champions League title defense tonight at 21pm at the Parc des Princes with a match against Atalanta, coached by our Nikola Krstović.
"We are the defending champions. We want to continue writing history. It is important that we go for a second Champions League title. We have to be ambitious," added the Spanish coach.
Last season, the Parisian team eliminated Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal on their way to the final, and in the trophy match they defeated Inter 5:0, which is the most convincing victory in the final of an elite European competition.
Paris Saint-Germain has won four consecutive league games, but Hvicha Quaracheli, Lee Kang-in and Lucas Beraldo were injured in the weekend's match against Lens, forcing them to leave the field.
The club announced that only Beraldo remained under treatment after straining his left ankle. Ousmane Dembele and Desiree Due will miss the match due to injuries.
