The players of Buducnost recorded an important, but hard-won victory in the eighth round of the Meridianbet 1st Montenegrin Football League over Bokelj in Kotor (2:0). The triumph over the last-placed team in the table, as expected, will probably lift the atmosphere, restore cheerfulness and confidence in the camp of the current champion, who is five points behind the top of the table.
It was the first triumph for new head coach Dejan Vukićević after the opening draw with Mornar in Bar. Now the focus is on the matches against Gorica, where traditionally tough rivals are coming - first up is Petrovac on Saturday (20:30), and Jezero arrives on Wednesday.
Young Montenegrin national team player Danilo Vukanić got the team going with a 1:0 goal at the start of the second half after the game had been rather lackluster in the first 45 minutes.
"We took Bokelj seriously, like all the games so far, but we knew that Bokelj was looking for points just like us and that it would be difficult. The match was quite tough, the opponent played mostly defensively and it was difficult to break through that wall," said the 19-year-old midfielder.
"It turned out that my goal started the game and gave it some liveliness. We were eager to score another goal, and Bokelj to equalize, so the second half was much more interesting," added Vukanić.
Beautiful goals from distance have become Vukanić's trademark - he scored with his weaker left foot in Kotor, and with his stronger right he was the scorer in the young team's victory over Sweden about twenty days earlier.
Regional media wrote about Vukanić not so long ago, and with each new goal, the interest of big clubs is growing - the 19-year-old midfielder could be the next young "capitalist" of Buducnost, following in the footsteps of Vasilije Adžić, Andrija Bulatović, Andrija Kostić...
"That goal in Kotor means a lot to me, first of all because of the club, of course, and secondly because of my self-confidence, which I gained with the goal against Sweden. Now I have built on it, because I also believed in my weaker leg," said the native Kolašin, who grew up in our Youth School and knows well what the blue and white jersey represents.
"Realistically, Buducnost is our biggest club and there is a responsibility when you wear that jersey. We are aware that we started the season poorly, but I expect us to slowly rise and be where we need to be - at the very top of the table and defend the title."
Danilo Vukanić believes that they will continue with a good rhythm, that the team will improve from Sunday to Sunday, and the first next test is Petrovac pod Goricam.
"It's unnecessary to say what kind of team this is, Petrovac showed its quality last season, and they have improved it in the current season. Of course, we will do our best, we have an imperative to win three points and I believe we will prove that we are slowly rising to a higher level," said the member of the talented generation of 2006.
