Radmir Đalović's start in Maribor was fantastic, the team recorded three wins, and in the Cup against Jurovski Do recorded the most convincing triumph in history (13:0), but after 16 days there could be a sensational farewell.
According to Slovenian media, a fight broke out between two Maribor players during training yesterday, in which Đalović, acting as a peacemaker, was hit. Because of all this, the Montenegrin coach plans to leave the team from "Ljudski vrt".
"A serious incident occurred during Maribor's last training session that called into question Đalović's continued position as coach of the Slovenian giants. During the training session, a physical altercation occurred between two key players, Omar Rekik and Benžamen Tete. Đalović tried to calm the situation down, but instead of a solution, even greater chaos ensued. According to sources, the Montenegrin coach himself was hit during the push, which caused him great dissatisfaction. Đalović perceived the entire incident as an open disrespect for his authority, which is why his continued cooperation with Maribor is under great question mark," writes Slovenian Ekipa.
All this is happening before the big derby against Celje.
"There are increasing chances that Đalović will soon leave 'Ljudski vrt'. However, the final decision is not yet known. Maribor has a training session scheduled today, and if Đalović shows up and the club manages to resolve the situation, he will lead the team in Saturday's big derby against Celje. Otherwise, the temporary solution, Radovan Karanović, will very likely sit on the bench again," writes Ekipa.
The team has since released another article with new information. It states that it was initially thought that the Montenegrin expert was just a collateral victim while trying to separate the two players, but new information suggests that it was more than just a coincidence.
According to local sources, after the incident, Đalović has reportedly made a firm decision not to coach Maribor again. This would be a major blow for the Slovenian vice-champion, considering that the former Rijeka coach had a great start to his tenure at 'Ljudski vrt'.
Fans also got involved in the story, who opposed Đalović's departure, and began to act on their own initiative.
"A few minutes before the news was published, Đalović appeared at 'Ljudski vrt' with his assistants. They all got into his car and drove away, and according to information from Slovenia, they are supposed to hold a meeting with the leaders of the Viola fan group. How this situation will unfold should be known soon," writes Ekipa.
There is different information regarding the epilogue. According to one, Tete and Rekik have already been to Đalović's to apologize.
According to others, Đalović immediately went to the management and requested the termination of his contract. And here again, the situation is not the clearest, as some write that he himself said that he had lost authority in the locker room, while others say that he simply did not want to work in this kind of atmosphere in Maribor anymore.
