The Budućnost youth school has recently been an excellent "springboard" for Montenegrin talents, even to the strongest European leagues, and it seems that this should continue to be the case in the coming years.
The "talent factory" continues to work - some new boys from our biggest football club shone in the Youth Champions League, but also in the Montenegrin jersey in the European Championship qualifiers.
Buducnost first overcame the first hurdle in the UEFA elite for the second year in a row, and our country's cadets made it to the elite round of qualifications.
Goalkeeper Simon Sošić, defender Lazar Popović, midfielders Matija Rakčević and Petar Vujović, and striker Aleksa Causević were part of both successes.
"They have shown that they are the future of our club and the Montenegrin national team," said Srđan Radonjić, director of the Budućnost youth school, on the club's website.
The "Blue and Whites" were better than Haverfordwest in the first round of the Champions League qualifiers, while the "Young Falcons" reached the elite round in competition with Italy, Ukraine and Estonia.
"Popović, Rakčević and Vujović did the lion's share of the work in the two-match match with Haverfordwest, especially under Gorica, and then the next day they traveled for the national team and defeated the great Italy - Sošić was the player of the match, Popović the captain, Vujović the scorer, and Rakčević held the midfield. They confirmed that they are the future with the victory over Estonia, where Vujović was the scorer again, but also by placing in the elite. That is a great satisfaction and an incentive for all of us in the youth school to continue to work even better and harder," emphasized Radonjić.
The former striker of Buducnost, Sutjeska and Partizan does not diminish the merits of everyone else in the cadet national team.
"Congratulations are due to the entire coaching staff of the cadet national team, including our coach Petar Vukčević and all the players who played and were on the bench. This is the success of all of them."
When it comes to Buducnost, they now face a much stronger opponent - Midtjylland, whom they will play on October 22nd in Denmark and November 5th in Podgorica.
"Progressing to the second round is an indication of good work in the younger categories of our club, and "The elimination of Haverfordwest is gaining in importance, because we are by far the youngest team in Europe, as we have players born as early as 2009, and the main year of birth is 2007, even 2006 is eligible to play. We are slowly preparing both in terms of players and organization for Midtjylland, and we already know that we are playing against probably the best youth school in Scandinavia," Radonjić pointed out.
First team coach Dejan Vukićević also believes in the young hopes of Budućnost, and he is increasingly including them in work with the seniors.
"Most of the boys have certainly drawn attention to themselves through their games in the past period, and the head coach Vukićević, despite his obligations in the senior team, watches all of our boys' games and is convinced on the spot that the potential exists. As always, the youth school is a service to the first team, but I believe that the head coach will gradually introduce the boys to the first team and I hope that like Savović, Vukanić, Camaj, Domazetović, Dakić or Jovanović, they will very soon be the mainstay of the first team," says Radonjić.
He is sure that many young men will receive an invitation.
"And, they should make the most of every training session, because coach Vukićević is known as someone who likes to work with young people and who has launched many young players in Zeta and Mogren such as Grbić, Božović, Stjepanović, Korać, Ćetković, Marić," concluded Radonjić.
