Barcelona Football Club have decided to sign Marcus Rashford on a permanent deal at the end of the season, after he joined on loan from Manchester United in July.
Barcelona are delighted with Rashford, who has impressed them with his demeanor, work ethic and talent, which is why the club decided to exercise the option in the loan contract and sign him on a permanent deal, British media reported today.
"Barcelona initially had trouble signing him because of the financial situation. But they also thought United were playing a game because they were ready to let him go. They thought he was too good to be true and that there was something wrong with him. However, his brother Dwayne convinced them that there was nothing wrong," a source told Sana.
Barcelona brought the English footballer on loan with an option to buy for 30 to 35 million euros.
The source stated that Barcelona are truly shocked that they can bring him in for so much money.
Rashford has scored three goals this season, including two against Newcastle in a 2-1 win in the Champions League, and has had five assists.
The 27-year-old English striker came through United's youth ranks and made his first-team debut in 2016.
Rashford spent the last half of the season at Aston Villa after being dropped by United manager Ruben Amorim. He made 10 Premier League appearances for the Birmingham side, scoring two goals, but the Aston Villa board were reluctant to buy him from United.
He made his debut for the England national team in May 2016 in a friendly match against Australia, and then became the youngest player in the history of that team to score a goal in his first match, at the age of 18 years and 208 days.
