After Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco, Ghana has also qualified for the World Cup from the African continent, defeating Comoros 1:0 last night in the final round of Group I.
The only goal for Ghana was scored by Tottenham player Mohamed Kudus.
Ghana finished the qualifiers in first place with 25 points, six more than second-placed Madagascar, who lost to Mali 4:1, missing out on a chance to be among the four best second-placed teams, who play in the play-offs.
The Ghana national team has only missed the World Cup in Russia since 2006.
Their best result at the World Cup was in 2010 in South Africa, when, under the leadership of Serbian expert Milovan Rajevac, they reached the quarterfinals, where they lost to Uruguay on penalties.
When it comes to teams from other continents, Australia, Iran, Japan, South Korea, Uzbekistan, Jordan, Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay and New Zealand have qualified for the World Cup.
The World Cup hosts are the USA, Canada and Mexico.
