After winning the championship title, Dečić lifted the Montenegrin Cup trophy last season, and this season, Tuzan is in an excellent position. They are tied with Sutjeska at the top of the Meridianbet 1. CFL table, and are in the quarterfinals of the Cup, after eliminating the current Montenegrin champion, Budućnost, in a derby at the Besa Arena two days ago.
The draw was not in Dečić's favor in defending the Cup trophy, as they will play Sutjeska in the quarterfinals after Buducnost. However, the Tuzans at least got the information that they will also welcome the Nikšić team in front of their home crowd. In the round of 16, in the victory against Buducnost - 3:2, the most ovations from the spectators in the packed stands were directed to the youngest player in the derby, 16-year-old Marko Đokaj.
- I love dribbling, one-on-one play, and the crowd loves it too. However, I know how important a timely pass is for the result and the team, and I don't think I overdid it, although, I admit, the roar of the crowd led me forward. In the end, I received praise for my game from the coaching staff, coach Nebojša Jandrić, but also from my teammates, from whom I have had unreserved support since I was transferred to the first team at the age of 15 - the youngest debutant in the history of Dečić, Mark Đokaj, tells "Vijesti".
He made his debut at the age of 16 years and 45 days, and has made six appearances for Dečić in the championship this season. Against Buducnost in the Cup, he was a starter for the first time this season.
- We were better than Buducnost, I expect to use the home field and the audience to beat Sutjeska in the quarter-finals of the Montenegrin Cup. I believe that the club is constantly growing and improving and we will try to bring the double crown to the club's showcase for the first time. Why not? We have current and former national team players in the team, excellent bonus players in Radusinović, Maraš, Kajošaj, and in the position and game that I love, I also have great opportunities to learn from Draško Božović and Asmir Kajević. I have their absolute support, my other teammates, but also from the coaching staff, and I would like to remind you that Edis Mulalić joined the first team at the age of 15. I also played for Nenad Brnović, and now for Jandrić. I am satisfied with the direction in which my football development is taking place, although I am always among the first in training, I try to work as hard as possible and use the advice of the coach and experienced teammates - explained Đokaj.
With Radovan Kavaja's cadet team, Đokaj won a place in the elite round of the European Championship qualifiers in Estonia. Montenegro won first place in the group with victories over Italy and the host country, while drawing with Ukraine.
- Our chances in the elite round are great, because we have a talented generation. We showed that by winning over Italy in an extremely difficult match. That draw with Ukraine came because of our unusual mistake, but we outplayed them, and I was the captain in the absence of Lazar Popović. I played all eight matches for the cadets this season and I admit that I am overjoyed with the trust placed in me by coach Kavaja, but that was also the case when Minja Ljumović brought me to the national team - concluded Đokaj.
A family where everything stops for football
The great hope of Dečić and Montenegrin football, Mark Đokaj, began his career in Buducnost.
- My father, Deda Đokaj, drove me from Tuzi to Podgorica every day for several years to train with Nemanja Kljajević, Balša Božović and Miloš Vukčević. They recognized my talent and ambition, but at the age of 13 I moved to Dečić, because the club was making significant progress and I had the opportunity to improve my skills there with coaches Gavrilo Petrović, Nikola Mihailović and Slobo Tripković. At the age of 15, coach Mulalić took me from the youth team, who had maximum confidence in my abilities - Mark recalls.
Excellent work in Dečić, made work and life easier for the Đokaj family.
- So, the proximity of a good and ambitious club, but I still haven't managed to balance school and will be taking the second year of high school extramural. We are, one could say, a family of football fanatics. It's not good to be around us when we watch the teams we support. My two-year-old brother Nikola, a midfielder for the youth team of Dečić, inherited that love from his father, as well as 14-year-old Aleksandar, who likes to play in my position behind the striker. We follow football matches closely, I especially Barcelona, which I have been supporting since the days of the virtuoso Messi, but now I am thrilled by Jamal and Pedri. Also, because of the speed and dynamics, the Premier League and especially the Champions League are indispensable. I follow how Phil Foden or Cole Palmer pass. Of our players, I like the games of Vasilije Adžić and Andrija Bulatović the most - emphasized Đokaj.
