The Premier League has confirmed what has been written in recent days.
It has been announced that only one match will be played on the traditional Boxing Day (December 26th) due to the expansion of European club competitions.
Manchester United and Newcastle will meet on Boxing Day.
The Premier League announced on Friday that the expansion of competitions like the Champions League brings "several challenges."
"With fewer weekends available, the league is constrained by the calendar. As in previous years, special arrangements have been made to allow more time between games during the holiday period," the league said in a statement.
The Premier League has pointed out that in 2026 it can guarantee more matches on Boxing Day, as it falls on the weekend and will be played on a Saturday.
Last year, for example, eight matches were organised on Boxing Day.
