The Montenegrin youth national football team will host Italy in Nikšić tomorrow (6:30 PM) in the sixth round of European Championship qualifiers.
Goran Perišić's team defeated Armenia (2:1) away three days ago, recording their second win in a row, and solidifying themselves in third place in the group behind Poland and Italy, who lost to the Poles in the previous round (2:1), which was their first defeat in the qualifiers.
"We have another tough match ahead of us. Italy is the favorite in this group, even though they lost to Poland in the last match. We have great respect for them, but the field is the only measure. I hope we will play better than in Armenia, that the guys will give their maximum and show their true value, that we are not where we are - in third place by chance. We will play attacking, as in every game," said coach Goran Perišić.
Montenegro lost 2:1 in the first match against the "azures", played on September 5th, after a comeback.
"We are going into the match against Italy with maximum confidence, because we have won two of our last two matches in the qualifiers. Although Italy is the favorite in our group, it gives us more motivation to come out in full force. I would also invite the fans to come and support us in as many numbers as possible. I am sure that, if there is a good atmosphere, we will repay them with a good result," said goalkeeper Balša Radanović.
Vladimir Perišić says the team is going for victory.
"The atmosphere in the team is phenomenal after the victory over Armenia, where we didn't play as we expected and wanted. But the victory is the most important thing, the three points are there. We turned to the game against Italy, we analyzed them. We are expecting a difficult game, where we will give our maximum and try to correct the mistakes from the previous game. As always - we are going for the victory and three points," concluded Perišić.
