FK Lovćen: We doubt the regularity of the match against Rudar, two players have been suspended from the team

The Lovćen football club issued a statement stating that there is doubt about the regularity of the match against Rudar.

That match was played on November 8th in the 15th round of the Meridianbet Second Montenegrin League, and the team from Pljevlja won 7:0.

The Cetinje club suspects that two of their players influenced this result, so they have removed them from the team.

"The Lovćen Football Club informs friends of the club, as well as others, that it expresses a high degree of doubt about the regularity of the Rudar - Lovćen match, which ended with a 7:0 victory for the home team. For these reasons, FK Lovćen has excluded two players from its ranks due to strong indications of involvement in the rigging of the aforementioned football match. These are goalkeeper Lazar Baltić and defender Vojin Jeknić," the statement reads.

Adding:

"We deeply regret that we have been put in a situation where we have to defend the honor of our club, as well as our own honor, in this way! We keep open the possibility that this list is not final. Namely, by reviewing the video recording of the aforementioned match, guided by our eyesight and common sense, we have a well-founded suspicion that these players, with their inexplicable movements, actions and deeds, enabled the host team to easily score goals for the sake of some of their own and other people's interests. We draw the attention of all well-intentioned football fans to become our witnesses by reviewing the recording of the match! The pretense of a football game and everything that this game entails was a miserable performance that insults human intelligence."

Lovćen is asking for the relevant authorities to get involved.

"We call on the competent authorities to launch an adequate investigation and examine the entire case. It is not difficult to find out which clubs are fixing matches, you just need to pay attention to where results with 7+ goals per match appear. We are sorry that the opposing club had helpers in our ranks. It was also saddening to see the opposing players rejoice at the goals scored in a fixed match."

"Such rejoicing serves to conceal the act of cheating itself. It is important to know, in order to make the picture as clear as possible, that FK Rudar performed without its three standard players. FK Lovćen will not allow anyone to play with the name and reputation of our club with impunity. Our club must always be a home of sport and ethics, because only in this way can it justify the name it bears," reads a statement from Lovćen, which was broadcast on Radio Cetinje.
