Liverpool was a place of celebration in May, celebrating its 20th title by the River Mersey - just six months later, the English champions suffered their ninth defeat in their last 12 games.
How bad the team that was impressive last season (especially until February) looks is shown by the fact that this is the club's worst streak since relegation from the league in the 1953/54 season.
Arne Slott's team was also taught a lesson by PSV at Anfield (4:1) in the 5th round of the Champions League, which was the third consecutive game in which the Reds lost by three or more goals. The last time something like that happened was in December 1953.
Because of all this, there is increasing talk that Slot should be sacked, and when asked by reporters whether such a story was fair to the man who brought the title, the Dutchman had an honest answer.
"I don't think it matters whether it's fair or not. But it's normal to talk about it. When any coach in the world loses games, especially when it's the number of defeats we've had, it's completely normal for people to have an opinion about it, and whether it's fair or not is up to others to judge," Slot said.
However, he believes he still has support at the club.
"I feel safe, I'm fine, I have a lot of support from the top. It would be nice to turn things around, but I repeat that when things aren't going well, it's normal to ask questions. In any case, it's not the first time I've been in a difficult situation, but it's time to change that," added the Dutch expert.
He was also asked to clarify the discussions with Liverpool leaders.
"We talk a lot. They are helpful to both the team and me and we have conversations, but they don't call me every minute to tell me they trust me. In the normal conversations we have, I feel trust. I haven't talked to them yet after this game, so we'll see," Slot concluded.
