Between the blue and white covers, on exactly 500 pages, is everything that Budućnost was during its first 100 years - the monograph on the occasion of the century of existence of our largest football club is a unique journey through time.
The promotion of this edition is scheduled for the beginning of December, and in the coming days, along with a series of "Vijesti" interviews with club legends, you will be able to read excerpts from the monograph.
Several eras and countries, many legends and masters of football, unforgettable moments, matches... All of this is now preserved in one place - in the monograph "A Proud Past, One Future", edited by Miloš Antic.
- Gratitude to the Budućnost Football Club, which recognized the importance of promoting the monograph, but also to the Secretariat for Culture of the Capital City, which will institutionally and financially support this event, which is also included in the rich program of the traditional December Art Scene event - Antic told "Vijesti".
More than a year of work
How difficult was it to tell the story for 100 years, how long did it take for the monograph to see the light of day?
- The development took more than a year, a plan was made and work began on this extremely complex project - adds Antic.
A complex project, but as he points out, everything was easier with the team that was quickly formed.
- I am extremely proud of it, and it is made up of experienced journalists, people who know the subject, but who are also emotionally attached to the club, who feel it... Along with me, they did research and texts, in accordance with the agreement and pre-designed and defined eras. Branko Krivokapic, Bojan Topalovic, Uroš Radulović, Aleksandar Radovic, Danilo Mitrovic, Kosta Boskovic, Stojan Stamenic i Leka Dedivanović, and a great contribution was made by Nebojsa Jakovljević from Subotica, owner of the famous website History of Ex Yu football by sharing the archive, as well as a proofreader Philip Jovovich and designer Adi Kerovic - Antic emphasized.
Libraries, "digging" in the archives and Čeferin as a guest
The first pages were soon printed, and the monograph slowly began to "build"...
- When it comes to collecting data, archival materials and photographs, it was extremely demanding, given the lack of club archives, but still somehow inspiring, and curiosity pulled us forward to discover new details. Staying in libraries, "digging" in archives is something that marked the period of compiling the monograph for everyone - says Antic.
He also explained how much attention was paid to every detail.
- What characterizes this, I would say monumental work on the history of the club and the city, apart from the exceptional design, but also the previously untold stories, is the listing of all possible sources from which the data was taken. This has not been the case in books of this type before, and I am sure that we have saved all the mentioned people who wrote about Buducnost from oblivion in this way. I am convinced that not only those who love Buducnost and Podgorica will read the book in one breath.
An important goal was to ensure that everything worth mentioning from the club's history was not forgotten.
- We wanted to mention all those who have woven themselves into the rich history of Buducnost through a story, a photograph, a number, an interesting piece of information... With, of course, special attention to checking each piece of information and its accuracy.
An important name found its way onto the front pages.
- The author's text in the introduction to the monograph was written by the President of UEFA Alexander fereferin", who shared his impressions of Buducnost, memories of great matches, the impregnable Titograd fortress and the greatest legends of our club," concluded Antic.
The first man of European football, among other things, beautifully explained what Budućnost meant for football in the greater Yugoslavia.
- Trophies may have been absent, but we all know that they are not the most valuable thing in the game we love. Far more valuable is the feeling of sincere belonging to something bigger than yourself. It is pure love - for the game, for the jersey, for the crest. A love that becomes stronger with the years. There are hundreds of clubs in Europe that are more than a century old, but those that have produced players of the renown of Dejan Savićević and Predrag Mijatović, born winners who have been adored by the whole world, can be counted on the fingers of one hand - Čeferin wrote in the monograph.
