The Sutjeska players outplayed Dečić last week, winning 3:1 in the 16th round of the MeridianBet First Montenegrin Football League, increasing their lead in the standings over their rivals, and then on Wednesday, in the quarterfinals of the Montenegrin Cup, they were defeated by the same rival 2:1.
Sutjeska has thus said goodbye to one trophy, leaving the fight for the title. And Dejan Jelenić's team will try to take another step towards that today (15) at the "DG Arena", where they host Mladost Lob.Beta.
It will also be the last away game for Nikšić in the first part of the season, as they will then face Jedinstvo-Franco and Mornar at home.
- We are expecting a different match compared to the one played in Nikšić in the first round. The match comes after our defeat in the Cup, from which we have to learn a lot of lessons. We are expecting a match that will be on the same level as all the previous ones we have played, a match where we will have to minimize mistakes - said Jelenić.
Sutjeska suffered its first defeat with Jelenić on the bench in the Cup against Dečić.
- Against Dečić in the championship, we were more dangerous in offensive transitions in the last third of the pitch than we were in the Cup. When you have a micro-cycle of three games, you have no room to practice, it all comes down to recovery. We cannot engage in tactical training. What we can do is related to psychological preparation and motivation - believes Jelenić.
Nikšić's footballer, Medo Juković, is expecting a difficult away game at the "DG Arena".
- An unpleasant away game, Mladost is a tough opponent at home. They beat Buducnost on their home field. Like every team, they have a problem in defense. We scouted that and I hope we will take advantage of it. We need to go out with attitude and character and give one hundred percent - concluded Juković.
Mornar ended their 11-game unbeaten streak in all competitions with a defeat to Buducnost in the previous round. Meanwhile, Barani were convincing against Iskra (4:0), advancing to the Cup semi-finals, and today (17) will host Petrovac at "Topolica", with whom they drew in the first round (1:1).
Dečić remains in the race to defend the Cup trophy, and today (14) they welcome Arsenal to Tuzi, while the round (13.30) opens with Jedinstvo-Franca and Jezero.
The round opened yesterday with Buducnost and Bokelj SBBet, who surprisingly celebrated (1:0) against Gorica and recorded their second win in a row, thanks to a goal by Stefan Golubović.
Buducnost suffered a defeat after two triumphs, also the first defeat since coach Dejan Vukicevic made the cut and thanked the experienced players.
