Ten years at the top - a simple headline on the website of the respected "Marca" dedicated to Real Madrid footballer, Kylian Mbappe. The reason - exactly ten years ago today, the French footballer played his first match in senior football. It was in the jersey of Monaco, when in the 2015/2016 season, in the 16th round of Ligue 1, he entered the field instead of Fabio Coentrao. Ten years later, Mbappe is one of the best footballers in the world.
Mbappe made his debut for Leonardo Jardim with the number 33 on his back.
"From the first training session, I realized that this was no ordinary boy. I've never seen someone capable of learning so quickly," Žardim said at the time.
And in 10 years, Mbappe has pushed the boundaries. He has already scored more than 400 goals in his career, was a world champion with France...
Since his debut against Caen, when he played just two minutes, everything happened very quickly. With Monaco he won the title in 2017, played in the semi-finals of the Champions League, and then moved to PSG, first on loan, and then the transfer became permanent. Even then, Real Madrid were interested in Mbappe.
"I feel it's too early. Real Madrid will be waiting for me, that's my feeling. I want to become a great player in France," Mbappe said at the time.
The same summer that Mbappe arrived, PSG also brought in Neymar, and a few seasons later Lionel Messi joined them, forming one of the strongest attacks ever.
And Mbappe dominated in France with Paris Saint-Germain, but the Champions League title eluded him, although the team reached the final in 2020, where it was defeated by Bayern.
He stayed at Paris Saint-Germain for seven seasons, and then his dream came true - he moved to Real Madrid. And as a free agent, so parting ways with the French team was not exactly amicable. Mbappe is even taking PSG to court, demanding that he be paid certain wages and bonuses. But it remains to be seen that he scored 256 goals and registered 110 assists for that team in 308 games.
In his first season with Real Madrid, he was the top scorer in La Liga, won the Golden Boot, and was named Real Madrid's best player, with whom he did not win either the title or the Champions League in his debut season.
This season he has scored 23 goals in 19 games. The best start ever, but it's not enough, because Kilian wants to win trophies.
