Sutjeska is the autumn champion, one round before the end of the first part of the season, but more than this unofficial "title", the people of Nikšić were pleased with a new escape to the top of the table.
Dejan Jelenić's team defeated Jedinstvo 2:0 in a round in which all rivals failed in the fight for the top spot.
Sutjeska is now in first place, seven points ahead of Mornar, eight ahead of Dečić, 11 ahead of Buducnost...
"The autumn title is a great satisfaction - for the players, for me. I congratulate the people at the club, I congratulate the fans, but we haven't done anything yet - we're only halfway there. We all need to stay on the same course, be on the same task, in order to return Sutjeska to the level it belongs to," said the Sutjeska coach.
Jelenić took over the team from Milija Savović, to whom he was an assistant, just seven rounds ago.
On October 9th, Sutjeska was third in the standings, and now it is convincingly first - and that shows what a job Jelenić has done so far.
The team from Nikšić had a harder time than expected today, beating last-placed Jedinstvo, but in the end it was a routine 2:0.
"A tough game, as we assumed it would be. In general, these are the toughest games to play, because the expectations are the highest, first against last, victory seems to be a given even before you step onto the field," added Jelenić.
Marko Đukanović in the 29th minute and Medo Juković in the 62nd minute decided the match.
"Pleased with the results, but the game was not at the level of the previous few matches. The field was quite difficult to play on, although the people who maintain it do their best to prepare it, but the expenditure is enormous," concluded Dejan Jelenić.
