Liverpool coach Arne Slott said today that he will speak to Mohamed Salah later today about whether the Egyptian will be in the squad for Saturday's match against Brighton, the BBC reported.
Salah said after the draw with Leeds that he had been "thrown under the bus" by the club and was then left out of the squad for the Champions League match against Inter Milan. He also told the media in the mixed zone at Elland Road that he had "earned his place" in the team.
"I'll have a conversation with Mo during the day. The outcome of that conversation will determine how things look on Saturday," Slot said.
Liverpool welcome Brighton to Anfield on Saturday at 3:00 PM, in an attempt to end a run of two league draws.
The Egyptian striker, who has scored 250 goals in 420 appearances for the club, has been a substitute in two of the last three Premier League games. He last played on December 3 against Sunderland, when he came off the bench, while he last started on November 26 in the Champions League defeat to PSV Eindhoven.
Slott confirmed that after the duel with Sunderland there were "a lot of conversations" between Salah, his representatives and the club.
Salah travels to the Africa Cup of Nations on Monday, and depending on Egypt's placement, he could return to the club only after the final on January 18. He has scored five goals in the Premier League and Champions League this season.
Speaking about his future, Slot added: "I have no reason not to want him to stay."
