Worrying news for Newcastle and Dan Burn - the England international has been hospitalised after leaving the Tyne-Wear derby following a heated clash with Nordi Mukiele.
According to the Independent, Burn is suspected of suffering a broken rib and lung damage.
The strong defender from St. James' Park tried to help the Sunderland full-back continue the match after colliding with him, but it quickly became clear that the injury was serious, so he was taken to hospital, where he spent the night.
The media from the Island predict that Newcastle will be without Burn for a long time, a guy who will probably be on England coach Thomas Tuchel's list.
All of this means that Magpies coach Edui Howe will be able to count on only four defenders during the most demanding part of the season in England, as Kieran Trippier, Sven Botman and Emil Kraft are all out, as is goalkeeper Nick Pope.
Burn is a local lad who started his footballing journey in Newcastle, and after wearing the jerseys of many clubs throughout his career, he got his real chance among the "Magpies" when he turned 30. And he took advantage of the best way - over the past three seasons he has become one of the better defenders on the Island, and it hasn't gone unnoticed by Thomas Tuchel.
