Mirko Vučinić will remain the coach of the Montenegrin national football team next year, the Executive Board of the Football Association decided at today's meeting.
Vučinić succeeded Robert Prosinečki on the national team bench, who left after the September World Cup qualifiers, in which our team was defeated at home by the Czech Republic (2:0) and away by Croatia (4:0).
Vučinić led Montenegro to the final round of the qualifiers and a friendly match against Liechtenstein. With him on the bench, the "brave falcons" defeated Gibraltar (2:1) and Liechtenstein (2:1), but lost to the Faroe Islands (4:0) and Croatia (3:2).
"The senior national team will be led by Mirko Vučinić, who performed this role in the last four matches in 2025 in the World Cup qualifiers. Vučinić has received the trust of the Executive Board to lead the national team during the coming year, in the friendly matches that the national team will play in March and May/June, and in the UEFA Nations League matches that are scheduled from September to November next year," it was announced after the FSCG Executive Board meeting.
As stated in the statement, Nenad Vukčević will remain the coach of the youth team, while Radovan Kavaja will lead the cadet team, who, with the help of the coaching staff, will also be responsible for leading the FSCG Football School, which this year will include players born in 2010 and younger.
The coach of the pioneer team will be Vladan Savić, the senior and youth futsal teams will be led by Sveto Ljesar, and Mirko Marić will be the coach of the cadet, youth and senior women's teams.
