"After a year of negotiations on the contract extension, an agreement was reached to mutual satisfaction and Adam extended his contract with Lazio until 2029. Despite the great interest from Italian giants and top clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia, I respected the player's wishes and the agreement was concluded with Lazio until 2029," Montenegrin super-agent Uroš Janković, who, among other things, mediated Luka Modrić's arrival in Milan last summer, told "Vijesti".
Marušić himself has been linked with Milan in recent days, and he has remained loyal to the club, where he is fifth on Lazio's all-time list in terms of appearances - he has played 335.
"Marušić is a senator of Lazio and now has the opportunity to break Stefan Radu's record of 427 official matches," added Janković.
Marušić is also a legend of the Montenegrin national team, whose jersey he has also worn for a full decade - since his debut in the abandoned match against Russia in March 2025, he has made 68 appearances, ranking fourth on the list, and has scored five goals.
Born in Belgrade, he began his career in Voždovac, and in 2014 he moved to Belgium, "skipping" Partizan and Red Star - Kortrijk, then Ostend, were his ticket to Serie A.
