Maksimilijan Ibrahimović, son of legendary football player Zlatan Ibrahimović, has moved from Milan on loan to Ajax, from one club where his father left a deep mark - to another.
"It's nice that he also played for Ajax. I'm happy that I have the opportunity to play here and develop. I want to write my own story. I am my own person and my own player, I'm here to do my own thing and I'm really looking forward to it," said Maksimilijan Ibrahimović.
According to Italian media, Ajax paid Milan 3,5 million euros for a loan until the end of the season, with the option to buy the contract in the summer.
"We are very pleased with the arrival of Maximilian. He is a talented striker with a good sense of space in and around the penalty area, as well as a strong instinct for scoring goals. He is adept at dribbling and, above all, has a strong winning mentality and an excellent attitude towards training," said Ajax director of football Marijn Beuker.
The young Swede has come through Milan's youth ranks but has yet to make his debut for the first team, although he was part of the squad that travelled to Saudi Arabia for the Italian Super Cup last month. He has scored five goals in 16 appearances for Milan Futuro this season.
"Initially, he will mainly play for Ajax U23, but during the season he will often be linked to the first team, in order to gradually get used to the higher level and intensity of the game. Maximilian has great potential and we hope that he will eventually become a permanent member of the Ajax attack," added Beuker.
Zlatan Ibrahimović played for Ajax from 2001 to 2005, scoring 48 goals in 110 appearances, winning two Dutch league titles and a national cup. During his two spells at Milan, he scored 93 goals in 163 games and won two Serie A titles and the Italian Super Cup.
"Ibrahimović is just a surname. I'm just Maksimilijan. If I were to burden myself with a name, everything would be wrong and it wouldn't be fun to play football. I don't compare myself to him, I don't even think we look alike," said the younger Ibrahimović.
Zlatan's younger son, 17-year-old Vincent Ibrahimovic, recently signed his first professional contract with Milan.
