Arsenal players defeated Chelsea 3-2 away from home in the London derby tonight, in the first leg of the League Cup semi-final.
Arsenal took the lead at Stamford Bridge with a goal from Ben White in the seventh minute, and the lead was doubled by Victor Dzekeres in the 49th minute.
Chelsea reduced the deficit in the 57th minute when Alejandro Garnaço scored. and Arsenal's two-goal lead was restored by Martin Zubimendi in the 71st minute..
The final score was set by Garnaćo, with his second goal of the match in the 83rd minute.
The return match will be played on February 3rd at Arsenal Stadium.
This is the ninth consecutive match in which Chelsea have failed to beat Arsenal, in all competitions. Such a run has not been recorded since 2004.
The second semi-final will feature defending champions Newcastle and Manchester City.
City beat the Magpies 2-0 in the first leg at St. James' Park last night. The return leg is scheduled for February 4 in Manchester.
A super final at Wembley is therefore possible: Arsenal versus City. The two leading teams in the Premier League table are involved.
