Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso has died at the age of 76, the Italian football club from Florence announced.
"It is with great sadness and together with his wife Catherine, children Giuseppe and Marisa and sisters Italia and Rafaelina, we announce that President Rocco Commisso has passed away. After a long battle with illness, he left us this morning," the statement said, Ansa reported.
Comiso died in the United States, where he had been living. Comiso, an Italian by birth and naturalized American, was born in Marina di Gioiosa Ionica (Calabria) on November 25, 1949.
He has been the owner of Fiorentina since the summer of 2019. Under his leadership, the Florentine club reached two Conference League finals and one Coppa Italia final.
