The Montenegrin national football team will host Slovenia in a friendly match on March 31, the Football Association announced.
"Falcons" will play four friendly matches in 2026, and in the coming days it will be known who they will play the second friendly match against in March.
The duel in March will be the third time that the national teams of our country and Slovenia have faced each other. In the first match, played in August 2007 at the City Stadium in Podgorica, there was no winner (1:1) – the current coach of the "Falcons" Mirko Vučinić gave our team the lead with a penalty kick in the 28th minute, but Slovenia equalized at the end of the first half with a goal by Daret Vršič.
The second duel was played in November 2022 at the "Stožice" stadium in Ljubljana, where the home team celebrated a narrow victory (1:0), when Miha Zajac beat Matija Šarkić in the 42nd minute of the match. The "Falcons" had a chance to equalize in the final minutes, but the ball ended up on Jan Oblak's goal post after Stefan Savić's penalty kick.
