The collaboration between Miodrag Radulović and Lebanon has ended – unexpectedly, on the eve of the final and decisive match in the Asian Championship qualifiers.
After two years, which were successful in terms of results, the contract was terminated by mutual agreement.
Radulović brought Lebanon one step closer to a third-place finish in the championship of the largest continent, with a point in the last match against Yemen being enough to win first place in the group.
However, after Lebanon failed to qualify for the Arab Cup, losing to Sudan, a team that played in the knockout stage of the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations, there was a sudden departure.
This was Radulović's second term as coach of the Lebanese national team. He previously led them from 2015 to 2019, leading them to the finals of the Asian Championship twice during that period.
In the second, which began in December 2023, he recorded a score of 12 wins, five draws and eight losses, while in the qualifications for the new major competition he achieved four triumphs and one draw, with a goal difference of 14:0.
In friendly matches, Lebanon defeated Jordan and Qatar, among others, and drew with Saudi Arabia – participants in the upcoming World Cup.
