French footballer Ngolo Kante signed a contract with Fenerbahce today, after his arrival at the Turkish club was delayed due to administrative problems.

Details of the contract were not disclosed, and Fenerbahçe president Sadetin Saran thanked Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan today "for the significant support he provided to bring this process to a successful conclusion."

Kante arrived at Fenerbahçe from Saudi Arabia's Al-Ittihad.

The transfer appeared to have almost collapsed on Tuesday, after Fenerbahce accused Al-Ittihad of being responsible for the collapse of the deal, claiming the deal could not be completed due to administrative errors by the Saudi club. However, Al-Ittihad later posted a farewell message on social media, confirming that it had agreed "to sell the remaining period" of Kante's contract.

The 34-year-old Kante, who joined Al-Ittihad in 2023, recently returned to the French national team and made his 65th appearance for the "tricolors" in November, in a convincing 4-0 victory over Ukraine. He won the World Cup title with France in 2018.

Kante's most illustrious club career was at Leicester and Chelsea, winning the Premier League with both clubs, while he also triumphed in the Champions League with Chelsea.

Fenerbahçe is chasing its first Turkish league title in 12 years. During the transfer window, the club also signed another French international, midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.
