Experienced striker Nemanja Nikolić is one of Buducnost's January signings, and he has already shown during preparations in Andalusia that he could be an important link in the rest of the season.
Nikolić is 33 years old, the local public knows him well from his Partizan jersey, although he played for Grbalj when he was very young.
It was in the 2011/2012 season and since then he has known the current sports director of Budućnost Nenad Maslovar well.
The fact that Nikolić did not "wander" to the capital of Montenegro is also evidenced by the fact that he collaborated with Miodrag Božović in Rostov about ten years ago.
"Coming to Buducnost has a special meaning for me. I am glad to be working with Maslovar and Grof again, because we have known each other for a long time and we know what to expect from each other. They meant a lot to me at the beginning of my career and I would like to close that circle as successfully as possible," said Nikolić.
He immediately found his way around Podgorica.
"The team really accepted me well. There are a lot of good guys, the atmosphere is healthy and you can feel it right away. For example, I have already played with Mihajlo Nešković in Vojvodina, but in general I quickly fit in because everyone is extremely fair and focused on work," added Nikolić.
Buducnost's ambitions should always be the highest, but the question is how realistic it is for the "blues" to chase the title this season, considering that they are 11 points behind the leader Sutjeska.
"I would like to score as many goals as possible and assist my teammates, but I put all of that in the service of results. The club that is the biggest in Montenegro must strive for the highest goals. The current situation in the table should be an additional motivation for us to give more than the maximum and make our fans happy," Nikolić is clear.
Buducnost played two games in Andalusia on Thursday - losing to Halmstad 3:0 and defeating Incheon United 1:0. Nikolic was the assistant for Neskovic's goal.
"A good win for our confidence. I'm glad I got minutes and was able to contribute to the team. The assist came from good action and understanding on the field, and the most important thing is that we looked compact and that the idea in the game was visible. As time goes on, we'll look better and better."
These preparations are a hit...
"We're working hard, the intensity is high, but that's normal for the period we're in right now. Every game has brought us something new and we can see progress from match to match. Personally, I'm happy with how I feel and I believe we'll get better as the season progresses," Nikolić concluded.
