Manchester City had been waiting for two victories against Liverpool in the championship since the 1936/37 season, since 1953 they had only celebrated three times at Anfield, and then when they were "on the ropes" they pulled off a victory that will be talked about for a long time in the north of England.
Pep Guardiola's team won the "temple of football" in Liverpool, winning 2-1, after being 1-0 down until the 84th minute, and not having crossed the halfway line in the second half until that point.
Another free kick from Dominik Soboslai was cleared by Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland.
Great teams show what they are made for even when things are not going well, and City managed to do it once again - they remained six points behind leaders Arsenal and sent a message that although they are not yet the machine they were in previous years, they are not giving up the title so easily.
It's not often that Liverpool start a match at Enfidha timidly, but that was the case this time. With no idea, and seemingly no desire, to attack, Arne Slott's team were primarily defensive - no shots on target, no real chances in 45 minutes.
City didn't shine too much during the first half, but even though Pep Guardiola wanted to outplay them, his team tried to score... They came closest in the 2nd minute when Bernardo Silva masterfully found Erling Haaland, but the Norwegian's shot was saved by Alisson Becker.
And then, after the break, it was as if completely different teams took to the field, especially Liverpool, who stepped up their pace and finally started playing the way the current English champions should.
The Reds quickly created two great chances, both through Ugo Ekitike - in the first, the Frenchman placed the ball that ended wide of the goal.
Immediately afterwards, Antoine Semenyo threatened on the other side practically out of nowhere, and then Ekitike, after a counterattack and a perfect cross from Mohamed Salah, headed the ball just wide of the post.
Liverpool continued their attacks, at those moments City almost never crossed the midfield, and the "explosion" at Anfield was ensured by arguably the best player for the Reds this season - Another perfect free kick from Soboslai for 1:0.
It seemed that City had been "knocked out", but in the style of championship teams, they "pulled themselves out of the well".
Captain Silva scored with a header after an assist from Haaland, and then the Norwegian's goal was broken from the penalty spot after Alisson fouled Mateusz Nunes.
Liverpool then tried to get at least a point, Gianluigi Donnarumma saved the victory with a miraculous intervention, and by the end City could have made it 3:1, but Soboslai fouled Haaland who was running towards an empty goal - a red card for the Hungarian on a night when he could have been a hero again.
