Newcastle manager Eddie Howe says he will resign if he thinks he is not the right person for the job.
Newcastle lost 3-2 to Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday, with fans booing the team, and Howe said at the time that he was "not doing his job well enough at the moment".
He said at a press conference ahead of the match against Tottenham that he "has no doubt that he is the right man for the job."
"That's why I'm sitting here. If I had any doubts, I wouldn't be here, because the club is the most important thing. I never put myself before the club. If I don't think I'm the right man to lead the team forward and I can't give the players what they need, then I'll step aside and let someone else do it," said Howe.
The Magpies have won just once in their last eight games in all competitions.
Since taking over the team in 2021, Howe has had a major impact, winning the League Cup last year and leading Newcastle to the Champions League on two occasions.
"Those experiences that I've been through countless times are useful at this moment. The collective spirit is what we're looking for. We're looking for a fight from all the players and if you have that determination within the group, you can do incredible things again," added Hau.
Newcastle vs Tottenham is on Tuesday.
