Croatia and Serbia were given extremely tough groups in the Nations League A, in today's draw in Brussels.
Serbia will play in Group A2 with Germany, the Netherlands and Greece, and Croatia in A3 with superpowers Spain and England (finalists of the last Euro), as well as the always unpleasant Czech Republic.
In group A1 there are France, Belgium, Italy and Turkey, and in A4 Portugal, Denmark, Norway and Wales.
The top two teams from each Group A of League A will advance to the quarter-finals of the Nations League.
The last-placed teams are relegated to League B, and the penultimate teams play a play-off for survival with the four runners-up from Group B of the Nations League.
The Macedonians found themselves in the Nations League B for the first time and were matched up against the Scots, Swiss and Slovenians.
Bosnia and Herzegovina is also in League B and will face Poland, Romania and Sweden, as well as Kosovo, which faces Israel, Austria and the Republic of Ireland.
