The Executive Director of Budućnost, Predrag Kažić, participated in the EFC meeting, which was held in Sofia.
On February 10th and 11th, the Bulgarian capital brought together club leaders from the region to discuss the future and position of small and medium-sized clubs in the modern competition system.
As announced by Buducnost, the substantive meeting made it possible to hear the voices of clubs coming from leagues with great passion, but also specific challenges — markets that do not have the financial power of the strongest European leagues, but have a strong identity and development potential.
“I come from Montenegro — a small market, but with great football passion and potential. Our message to the European football family is clear: clubs from the lower leagues are not looking for privileges, but for sustainability. If we want truly strong European football, we must have competitive leagues at all levels, not just in the ‘top five leagues’. Without stable domestic championships, there is no stable football Europe,” said Kažić upon his return to Podgorica.
The EFC (European Football Clubs) is an organisation that represents European clubs at international level and acts as an umbrella body in dialogue with UEFA and other relevant institutions. The organisation was previously known as the European Club Association (ECA), and today, through a new structure and name, it continues to represent the interests of clubs across Europe.
"During the meeting, as FK Buducnost, I delegated three key pillars for the further development and more equal status of clubs from smaller markets - greater and predictable solidarity towards clubs that do not participate in the group stages of UEFA competitions; easier access to education and "best practice" models in club management; creation of a platform for regional cooperation between medium and small football markets," said Predrag Kažić.
The future as a club does not want to be just a participant in meetings, but part of the solution...
"Our club is ready to use its experience and energy to participate in working groups, pilot projects and all initiatives aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of domestic leagues. Our obligation to the fans and the future of Montenegrin football is to ensure that the club's voice is heard where decisions are made," said the executive director of the "blues" Predrag Kažić.
