Barcelona lost to Girona last night (2:1), ceding first place in the table to Real Madrid, and also suffering their second defeat, following the debacle in the Cup in which they were defeated by Atletico (4:0).
Girona's second goal last night caused controversy, with the Spanish champions' coach Hansi Flick believing it was preceded by a foul on Gil Cunde.
Early in the game, Girona player Claudio Echeverri stepped on the foot of Gil Cunde. Referee Cesar Soto Grado awarded the goal, without even calling VAR to check the situation.
"Why didn't VAR intervene? I don't know. For me it was a clear foul. I have nothing more to add on that subject. The matter is clear, but that's no excuse," said Hansi Flick after the match.
The German criticized the trial.
"Referees do their job. Sometimes they do it at the same level as we play... Not at a good level. Sometimes they don't do their job well, but we have to look at us," Flick pointed out.
Barca is two points behind Real Madrid, and in the next round they host Levante, while Madrid plays away to Osasuna.
