European football's governing body (UEFA) announced that it has launched an investigation into the events at last night's Champions League play-off match between Benfica and Real Madrid.
During last night's match in Lisbon, Real Madrid player Vinicius complained to referee Francois Letexieu that Benfica player Gianluca Prestiani racially abused him.
"We have received an official report and have launched an investigation. We will look into all the details and decide on any possible sanctions. We have no further comment on the whole case at this stage of the investigation," Uefa said.
Real Madrid won 1-0 in Lisbon last night, with Vinicius scoring the only goal.
The second leg in Madrid is on February 25th.
