Benfica fans against Vinicius Junior, then Lisbon club player Gianluca Prestigiani, and finally Jose Mourinho.
The Brazilian was the center of attention at "La Luz" on Tuesday, at one point he complained to the referee that an opposing player had racially insulted him, and the incidents immediately took on a new dimension.
After the match, Mourinho said, among other things, that Vinicius showed disrespect with the way he celebrated the goal, a statement that Bayern coach Vincent Kompany did not like, just like Lilian Thuram a few days earlier.
The Belgian defended the Real Madrid striker, but also attacked Mourinho.
"After the game you have the leader of the organisation, Jose Mourinho, practically attacking the character of Vinicius Junior by mentioning the way he celebrated the goal to discredit what Vinicius was doing and to diminish what really happened," Kompany said, adding:
"If you're a leader, that's a huge mistake and something we shouldn't accept."
Mourinho, among other things, said that the example of the legendary Eusebio shows that Benfica is not a racist club.
He also criticized Mourinho's use of Eusebio's name and cited him as an example that proves that Benfica is not a racist club.
"Do you know what black players had to go through in the 1960s? Was he there to travel with Eusebio to every away game? Probably the only option back then was to keep quiet, to say nothing, to be above it and 10 times better, to get a little recognition and people say, 'He's actually good.' That was Eusebio's life," Kompany pointed out.
Kompany finally said about Mourinho:
"I know a hundred people who worked with Jose Mourinho. I've never heard anyone say anything bad about him. I understand that he fights for his team and his club. You can't be a bad person and have all your former players talking so positively about you. I don't have to judge him as a person, but I know what I've heard. And I understand maybe what he did, but he made a mistake."
