Red Star players took a big step towards their ninth consecutive title in the "eternal derby".
The "red and whites" concluded a perfect week in which they also demolished Lille away with a convincing victory over their biggest rival Partizan - 3:0. It was a triumph that moved Dejan Stanković's team and the leader of the Serbian Super League to plus four points over the "black and whites".
Four Montenegrins played for Partizan - Milan Roganović, Andrej Kostić, Stefan Milić and Milan Vukotic, and the last one was one of the tragic ones, as his penalty was saved by Red Star goalkeeper Mateus with the score at 2:0.
The rebound was then sent into the net by Kostić, but VAR ruled that our center forward stepped on the penalty area line before Vukotić took the shot.
Partizan looked good in the first half, but was penalized in the fifth minute of stoppage time when Vasilije Kostov scored, thus becoming the youngest scorer in the history of the "eternal derby" at the age of 17 years, nine months and 11 days.
Red Star reached the 2:0 lead with a beautiful goal by Marko Arnautović, and after a missed penalty by Vukotić, an even more beautiful action crowned by Aleksandar Katai to make it 3:0.
In addition to increasing their lead in the standings, Red Star has also "gained" a good performance in the eternal derbies, so after the 178th game of the biggest match in Serbia, they lead 72:48 in head-to-head duels, with 58 draws.
