Cristiano Ronaldo has bought a 25 percent stake in Almeria. The Spanish club, which competes in the Segunda Division, includes Montenegrin international Marko Perović.
The left winger of our national team was loaned to Atletico Madrid B this winter, which ends at the end of June. The 19-year-old winger has already made four appearances and provided one assist for Atletico Madrid.
CR7 founded a separate company, CR7 Sports Investments, to buy a portion of Almeria's shares. Almeria has been owned by Saudis since 2019, primarily by Turki al-Sheikh, who is the central figure behind all major sporting events in Saudi Arabia.
However, in 2025, Almeria was bought by a consortium that also includes the Saudi Media Company. Saudi Media is the owner of the Al Nasr stadium, where Cristiano Ronaldo plays, and which, with a new contract until 2027, also became the owner of 15 percent of Al Nasr.
"I'm not interested in the role of coach, or even president. My ambitions are to stay in football, but as an owner and invest in their future," the famous Portuguese said at the 2024 Globe Soccer Awards.
Almeria is now third in the fight for La Liga, just two points behind the leaders. They have also made the biggest transfers in the Saudi era - Darwin Nunez, Luis Suarez to Sporting, Marco Pubil to Atletico, transfers of El Bilal Toure, Umar Sadiq...
"I have long wanted to contribute to the development of football off the pitch. Almeria is a Spanish club with solid foundations and clear potential for growth. I want to work with the board to support the club in the next phase of its development," CR7 stressed.
He played for Al Nasr against Almeria last summer, scoring two goals in a 3-2 defeat.
