The Montenegrin women's national football team was defeated by Albania 2:1 in Nikšić, in the first round match of the B Nations League.
Even a late lead, with a goal by Armisa Kuč in the 67th minute, did not help Mirko Marić's team, as the Albanians, with two goals from captain Megi Doci in the space of just six minutes, managed to turn the tables and take three points.
After a tied game, Montenegro took the lead when Selma Ličina spotted Armisa Kuč running in, who effectively volleyed into the Albanian net.
However, our girls' celebration was short-lived.
Doci equalized in the 70th minute, after an assist from Kendra Krasniqi, and just six minutes later scored another beautiful goal from a free kick.
Montenegro could have taken the lead earlier, when Armisa Kuč played a great serve past Jasna Đoković, but only the outside of the net was shaking.
On the other side, our goalkeeper Ajša Kalač stood out, stopping two shots in the same action - first by Gresa Beriša, and then by Doca.
In the last 15 minutes, captain Slađana Bulatović returned to the field after a long break due to injury.
Montenegro continues the competition on Saturday with a visit to the Welsh national team.
