"Officially took over the helm": Peković had his first training session with Sutjeska

Milorad Peković officially took over Sutjeska and today had his first training session with the Nikišće team, which can be seen in the photos that the current leader of the MeridianBet First Montenegrin Football League posted on social networks.

"The new head coach, Milorad Peković, officially took over the helm today and had his first training session with the team," reads a post by Sutjeska on Facebook and Instagram.

Peković will make his debut on the bench for Sutjeska on Wednesday (15), when his team will welcome Arsenal in the match of the 24th round of the domestic competition.

Peković is Sutjeska's third coach this season. The team from Nikšić started with Milija Savović, and then, after a defeat to Buducnost (2:0), they parted ways with the coach who brought the last title to Bistrica in 2022.

Savović was succeeded by assistant Dejan Jelenić, with whom the team went seven matches without defeat (six wins and a draw), and in the last round of the first half suffered a defeat to Mornar at home (1:0). Sutjeska finished the first half as the autumn champion, but Jelenić has since faced talk of being sacked.

After the defeat to Buducnost (2:1), at the start of the second half of the season, there were again talks about a coaching change at Bistrica, but Sutjeska then defeated Petrovac, and after a draw with Jezera (1:1), everything culminated.

So, last Tuesday afternoon, information emerged that Peković was the new coach of Nikšić, but Jelenić was informed late in the evening that he would remain the coach, so he led training on Wednesday.

And then on Wednesday evening, after 23 pm, the official information arrived - Jelenić was no longer the coach of Sutjeska, and his successor was Peković.

Peković did not lead the team on Saturday, against Bokelj SBBet, and as was heard at the time, he had not even signed a contract until Thursday evening, even though he was officially presented.

Sutjeska was led by Boris Milickovic and Dejan Miljanic against Bokelj, and Pekovic took over the helm today.

The goal of Sutjeska and Peković is the title, and the current situation is very favorable, because the "blue" from Nikšić are the leaders in the table with seven points more than Mornar and Dečić.

During his career, Peković managed the youth football team of Montenegro, Podgorica, Dečić and the German Greuther Fürth.

He won the title with Dečić two years ago, and he has a good chance to do the same with Sutjeska.
