AEK Athens players advanced to the quarterfinals of the Conference League tonight, although they lost to Celje 0:2 at home in the second leg of the round of 16.
In the first match last Thursday, AEK won 4:0 in Slovenia.
Goals for Celje were scored by Nikita Iosifov in the 13th minute and Rudi Požeg in the 42nd minute.
The Greeks will play in the quarterfinals against the winner of tonight's double match between Rayo Vallecano and Sansunspor.
Mainz is also in the quarterfinals, having defeated Sigma Olomouc 2-0 in the second leg at home. The first leg in the Czech Republic was 0-0.
The goals were scored by Štefan Poš in the 46th minute and Armindo Sieb in the 82nd minute.
The Czech team finished the game with ten men, after Peter Barat received a second yellow card in the 76th minute.
Mainz will play in the quarterfinals against the better team from tonight's match between Rijeka and Strasbourg.
Fiorentina players advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating Rakov 2-1 in the second leg on the away field.
In the first match, the Italian team won 2:1.
Rakov took the lead with a goal by Karol Struski in the 46th minute, and Fiorentina equalized with a goal by Shero Ndur in the 69th minute. Marin Pogrančić brought the victory to the "purples" in the seventh minute of injury time - with a goal from his own half, after the Rakov goalkeeper went into the opponent's penalty area.
