Lazar Carević and Famalicao have found their rhythm again - the Montenegrin goalkeeper shines between the posts, and the club from Braga district continues to fight for a place in Europe.
March was perfect for Carević and his team, so the guy who made two appearances for the Montenegrin national team was chosen as the best goalkeeper of the month in Portugal.
This is the second recognition for the Budva native this season, after he was the best in August - both times he finished ahead of the best Portuguese goalkeeper and the "number one" of the national team, Diogo Costa.
The best goalkeeper is chosen by the coaches of Primeira Liga clubs, and Carević received 28,72 percent of the votes, Košta 25,53, while Lukas Horniček from Braga is in third place (19,15).
"Carevic was a key player for Famalicao in their month without defeat," A'Bola announced.
"Carević had a great March, and his performances could not go unnoticed by the coaches in Portugal, as he stood out in each of the four games," writes "Rekord", another well-known sports newspaper in Portugal.
Famalcao recorded three wins and a draw in March, and during those duels, Carević's net was only hit once, while "Rekord" emphasizes that he made a total of 11 saves.
And the other numbers show that March wasn't the only month that was special for Carević - he is currently the goalkeeper with the most saves in the championship (92), and he also helped Famalicao set a new record for the number of games without conceding a goal in a single Primeira season - 14 matches, the previous record was 13.
Famalicao also won a big point against Porto at the "Do Dragao Stadium" (2:2) last weekend.
Carević made two appearances for Montenegro in 2022 - against Armenia and Slovakia when coach Miodrag Radulović was in charge. He last played for the Montenegrin national team in March 2023.
