There is no end to the surprises in FK Budućnost - when it seemed that everything had already been seen, and there was so much, a new plot followed, this time in the "family circle".
The information that the Board of Directors has dismissed the executive director was published by all Montenegrin media, but the dismissal has not yet been made official, because it has not been signed by the President of the Board of Directors.
And that detail actually reveals a lot. The president was not even present at the session of the body he chairs.
Illogical events and phenomena are the most difficult to explain, including this one, because there is no common sense explanation why the president does not attend a meeting where important decisions are made for the functioning of a club or organization in general, unless he has authorized members to decide on his behalf.
The fact that the club president and the director were together at the Buducnost match in Nikšić on Sunday, and that his signature is not (yet) there, shows that the president did not exactly support the director's dismissal.
In the whole story, however, the names are the least important. Nor is it crucial how the executive director worked.
The system on which the largest and most trophy-winning Montenegrin club currently rests is important.
In other words, this is not about any system, but about anarchy, or, what seems more realistic - about games in another fight for supremacy in the club, which is also the largest sports "consumer" of the city budget. In recent months, Buducnost has received, or will receive in the coming period, between two and three million euros.
It is not clear why the executive director is targeted, given that his powers should not be too extensive, but mainly stem from decisions of the Board of Directors, which appointed him.
The director, in the end, and looking only from a sporting aspect, does not choose the sports director, the coach, or the players, nor does he determine their salaries, but practically implements the decisions of the Board of Directors in accordance with the budget available to the club.
The fact that the club's (read - part of the city's) budget is mostly spent on salaries (over 250 thousand euros per month) is not the director's decision, but rather the decision of the board members. Nor was it his decision to bring in 11 new players in January...
At the end of January, the club president, commenting on the conflict with the fans, stated in a press release that this is the moment "when the Management stabilizes, consolidates and cleans the club from bad practices and those middlemen who have been parasitizing and profiting from FK Buducnost for years, when reinforcements were brought in during the winter transfer window for respect, when the Management brought in the best regional sports experts and provided all the conditions to bring FK Buducnost back and onto a healthy path, when the greatest support has been provided by the Capital City...".
And suddenly - the members of the Board of Directors (Mileta Šćepanović, Feđa Smatlik, Ninoslav Kaliđerović, Nikola Marković) find "a series of shortcomings" in the work of the director alone, and one of them is, allegedly, (good, i.e. normal) communication with the Football Association of Montenegro and the relevant committees and bodies.
Perhaps that is actually his greatest sin.
If so, then the background to the new upheaval is clear as day (“attack” on FSCG), and if not - it is an elementary obligation of the Board members to explain the reasons why his departure is being requested.
Not because of the fans and the football public, because, unfortunately, few people are interested in Buducnost as a sports team anymore, but because of two, three, four or five million euros of city money.
