The season is coming to an end in the strongest European football leagues, and a lot is already known or can be guessed...
In Germany, Bayern confirmed their dominance and won the 35th Salatara, in Italy, Inter is one step away from the Scudetto, in Spain, Barcelona has a highway to the title, while in England, Arsenal is under pressure from Manchester City.
While the situation is mostly clear in most championships, in France it unexpectedly became interesting.
Paris Saint-Germain ensured that, as they were defeated at home by Lyon (2:1) in the 30th round, and that was the result that pleased Lens, led by our Andrija Bulatović.
Lens also defeated Toulouse 3-2 on Friday after a turnaround and with an assist from the Montenegrin midfielder (it was 0-2), so the table shows that PSG has a point more and a game less. So, nothing is over, although everything is in the hands of the Parisians - Lens has the right to dream that they can do something they only managed to do in 1998.
In the last 13 seasons, Paris Saint-Germain has won the title 11 times. Their dominance was only interrupted by Monaco in 2017 and Lille in 2021.
And can Lens end the European champions' dominance? After PSG play a late game against Nantes on Wednesday, both teams will be on 29 games played.
They will play five more matches by the end of the season, including a head-to-head match scheduled for May 13. This is a match that was supposed to be played in the 29th round, but was postponed at the request of PSG due to the team's Champions League commitments, so it will be played a few days before the final round.
And then either everything will be resolved or that duel on the Lens field could sensationally decide the battle for the title.
Both teams are still active on two fronts. PSG is defending its European title and will play Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-finals, while Lens has commitments in the Coupe de France, where they face Toulouse in the semi-finals tomorrow.
- Did you want a more competitive championship? Now you have it. Lens are having a good season and it will be tough until the end - stressed the PSG coach Luis Enrique after the defeat against Lyon.
PSG have lost five times in the domestic championship this season, equalling their performance from the 2012/2013 season. Since the arrival of "Qatar Sports Investments" to the club, PSG have suffered the most defeats in the 2020/2021 season, six in total. That season they were left without a title.
"Saints" are still favorites for the title, and according to Opta's estimates, the chances are as high as 95,4 percent. According to these analyses, Lance only has a 4,6 percent chance.
PSG will play against Nantes, Angers, Lorient, Brest and Paris until the end, in addition to the match with Lens. Lens' rivals, in addition to PSG, will be Brest, Nice, Nantes and Lyon.
