The last time Lens played in the Champions League was in the 2023/2024 season. Then, they finished the competition in the group stage with two wins, a draw and a loss, and have not been part of the European elite since then.
But Lens did not wait long for a new opportunity to be part of the strongest European football competition. The team from "Felix Bolear" has played brilliantly this season, and last night in the 33rd round of Ligue 1 they defeated Nantes (1:0) and secured a return to the Champions League. Lens will play two more games until the end of the season, and is in second place with three points less and a game more than the leader, Paris Saint-Germain. Lens is therefore theoretically still in the race for the title, and will also play the Cup final against Nice.
And the Champions League qualification came with the signing of Andrija Bulatović. The young Montenegrin footballer assisted 16-year-old Soares in the 79th minute last night and took Lens to the elite.
Bulatović has played 17 games in Ligue 1 this season, registering three assists. The latter was worthy of the Champions League.
Bulatović's contribution was also recognized by Lens fans. Last night, at the post-match ceremony, while celebrating the club's Champions League qualification and 120th anniversary, Bulatović entered the field draped in the Montenegrin flag to the tune of Bojan Delić's song, "Ej Crna Goro", to applause from those present at the stadium.
The elite has arrived at "Feliks Bolear". With the signature of Andrija Bulatović.
