Buducnost enters the end of the season without a president - the club's previous leader, Boris Spalević, has resigned from that position.
In a statement submitted to the club's Assembly, Spalević points out that he is irrevocably resigning from the position of president of the Board of Directors, effective May 19, 2026, in order to create the conditions for the appointment of a new club president and the smooth continuation of work by that period.
"From the time I was hired until today, despite the enormous challenges I encountered upon taking over the helm of the Board of Directors, stable conditions for the club's functioning have been ensured - the club is legally consolidated, obligations towards suppliers, employees and players have been regularly settled, all conditions have been created for the smooth operation of the team, and the sports sector has been provided with quality working conditions," Spalević points out.
Spalević adds that all coaching changes, except for coach Ivan Brnović, "were forced by the team's poor results and the need to try to improve the team's sporting performance."
"In sports, the result is not always predictable, and I personally expected a better ranking in the table, especially in the second part of the championship, where, with the experienced coach Božović and sports director Maslovar, the conditions were provided for the engagement of a larger number of reinforcements. The sports sector had full support and independence in making decisions. As the club president, I feel objective responsibility for the unrealized, but expectedly better sports results, although in that segment all assumptions were provided and full autonomy was given to the professional structures to achieve the planned goals through their work," said Spalević, who added that the club is currently in fifth place in the table, with the belief that the situation on the sports front will improve in the next four rounds.
"Following the appeal, additional documentation for the FSCG registration for UEFA has been submitted and a positive outcome is expected. Football is an extremely financially demanding system and the new president and management will face the challenges in ensuring financial stability, which this Board of Directors also faced. I wish the club stability, success and better results in the coming period," Spalević said.
