Barcelona football coach Hansi Flick has extended his contract with the Catalan club until 2028, the BBC reported.
Barcelona won its 29th Spanish league title on Sunday, after securing first place in La Liga with three rounds remaining in the championship with a victory over Real Madrid.
The German expert (61) had a contract for next season, and now the cooperation has been extended for another year, with the option of an additional extension.
"I'm very happy about this. The club has given me and my coaching staff the confidence to continue working for another year or two," said Flick.
Barcelona has the opportunity to finish the season with 100 points.
"Many coaches would be happy with a three, four or five-year contract, but in the case of Barcelona it's good to limit the duration. I really appreciate that," said the German coach.
"We're going until 2028, so we'll see if everything is going well and then possibly decide on another year. The club has the right, I have it too, I think it's a good deal," he added.
Flick succeeded Xavi on the Barcelona bench in the summer of 2024, and won the Copa del Rey in his first season.
Before joining Barcelona, Flick managed the German national team for two years, following a successful tenure at Bayern from 2019 to 2021.
With Bayern, he won two Bundesliga titles, as well as the Champions League and the 2020 Club World Cup.
