Sutjeska 69, Mornar 65 - 180 minutes left until the end of the championship race. After the 34th round of the Meridianbet First Montenegrin Football League, the team from Nikšić came within a win of their sixth championship title.
Milorad Peković's team defeated Dečić (3:0) in one of the two derbies, while in the other Barani failed to find a way into the net against Budućnost pod Goricam (0:0).
The Podgorica team failed to do so either in the debut of the sixth coach of the season, Srđan Radonjić, and has gone a full 540 minutes or six games without a goal or victory.
After this round, it is clear that last year's champion will have a hard time reaching Europe after Petrovac's 95th-minute win, but that they are still in danger of a play-off for survival. Jedinstvo is also getting closer to relegation, while Jezero, who came from 0:2 to 2:2 against Mladost, will be chasing the team from Donja Gorica, Arsenal and Budućnost to avoid the play-off.
EVERYTHING IS READY FOR THE PARTY IN NIKŠIĆ
Sutjeska has two match points for its first title since 2022 - in the next round against Mladost away, and then in Nikšić against last-placed Jedinstvo. If it wins against the team from the "DG Arena", the championship race will be over regardless of Mornar's performance until the end.
The first half of the match with Dečić did not bring much good football from either side, but there was a goal that delighted the home fans. Marko Šimun crossed from a corner kick, and his namesake Mrvaljević headed the ball in in the 13th minute.
Everything looked much different in the second half, and the leader quickly finished the job. First, Andrija Ražnatović scored a great goal for 2:0 in the 62nd minute, and it was all over four minutes later.
Vasilije Čavor masterfully opened the scoring for Mrvaljević, the Sutjeska striker rushed towards the goal, and as the last defender in the penalty area, Leon Ujkaj brought him down. Referee Miloš Savović pointed to the penalty spot, and defender Dečić was shown a red card. Čavor was the one who scored from the penalty spot (3:0).
MIJATOVIĆ STOPPED MORNAR, FUTURE FORGOT TO SCORE GOALS
There were no goals against Gorica, so it seems that the more interesting thing was in the stands where the Budućnost fans continued to call out what was left of the Board of Directors, and they also had a message that they wanted the club to be privatized.
With a new coaching staff and support from the fans in the stands, Buducnost entered the match a little better, and Milan Vušorović had the biggest chance. However, it soon became clear why Barani is far ahead of Podgorica this season.
Almost every "nobody's ball" would end up with a Mornar player, Vesko Stešević's team looked stronger and more prepared in the duel, and Demir Škrijelj gave the team from our coast a rhythm.
Still, from all of this, Mornar created good chances, but did not manage to win.
Good chances in the first half were missed by Balša Sekulić (Lazar Popović's mistake was corrected by goalkeeper Milan Mijatović) and Matija Rovčanin, while Jovan Baošić's goal was disallowed for offside. His teammate Petar Vukčević skipped the ball, but was also closest to Mijatović, and also made a jerk that influenced the game.
In the second half, Mornar had better chances, but the brilliant Mijatović stopped the shots of Sekulić and especially Ilija Martinović after the corner kick, while he had a little luck with Darko Zorić's attempt.
Buducnost could have broken the deadlock and scored against Mornar in the 87th minute when Matija Rakčević brilliantly found Vasilije Kracković, but Benjamin Krijestarac also showed how good a goalkeeper he is.
FABRIS PRIMAKAO PETROVAC TO EUROPE, AN IMPORTANT TRIUMPH FOR BOKELS, THE LAKE DOES NOT GIVE UP
Last year's champion hoped that in the last three rounds he could improve his season somewhat and qualify for Europe, but it seems that Đorđe Fabris "killed" those hopes. The guy who came on in the 88th minute of injury time brought victory to fourth-placed Petrovac against Jedinstvo (1:0).
With a victory over neighbors Arsenal (3:0), Bokelj escaped to plus four from the last position leading to the Second League, while Jezero showed that it is not giving up and will try to win survival before the play-offs.
The team from Plav was losing to Mladost 2:0 (a great goal by Stefan Almeida, also scored by Ljubomir Pejović), but they managed to get an important point through Ognjen Rolović in the 53rd minute and Đorđe Maksimović in the 89th minute.
