Racing Santander players returned to the Spanish La Liga 1 tonight, after defeating Valladolid 4-1 at home, in the 40th round of the second league, Segunda.
Along with the victory against Valladolid, Racing also needed Almeria's 2:1 defeat by Las Palmas to secure a place in the Primera tonight, two rounds before the end.
The top two teams will advance to the Primera, and Racing will not be able to drop from one of the top two places.
The club from Santander is first with 78 points, Deportivo from La Coruna is second with 71 points and a game less, and third-placed Almeria has the same number of points but from 40 games.
Racing Santander was relegated from the first division in 2012, and a year later was relegated to the third division.
