Last week, after a draw with Arsenal in Tivat (1:1), Sutjeska trembled, waiting for news from Bar (Mornar and Bokelj SBBet played 0:0) and in the end retained first place, and then this week they took a big step towards the title - last night, the team from Nikšić defeated Dečić (3:0) in the 34th round of the MeridianBet First Montenegrin Football League, so after the draw between Mornar and Buducnost (0:0), they increased their advantage in the table over Bar to four points.
Sutjeska has been the leader since the beginning of the season, and now they are close to the goal. Milorad Peković's team plays away against Mladost Lob.Bet in the next round and could already win their sixth title. A victory definitely guarantees the trophy, which has been awaited by Bistrica for four years.
And Sutjeska scored last night in the 13th minute for Dečić. Marko Šimun crossed from a corner, and Marko Mrvaljević scored with a header. All doubts were resolved in the following minutes - first Andrija Ražnatović received the ball in the 62nd minute and shook the net, and four minutes later Vasilije Čavor scored from the penalty spot and solved everything. Sutjeska's penalty was preceded by a duel between Mrvaljević and Leon Ujkaj, after which the Dečić player received a red card.
Ražnatović and Čavor are the main scorers of Nikšić this season and are among the most deserving that the "blues" are close to the goal. Čavor is the most efficient with 10 goals and shares third place on the scorer list with Žarko Korac (Jedinstvo-Franca), Stefan Denković (Mornar) and Trimror Selimi (Dečić). On the other hand, Ražnatović has scored eight times this season, which is a great number for a left back. Of course, the hat-trick against Bokelj SBBet in the first part of the season is memorable.
"A very important victory for us, but there is still more to play for. We have a game against Mladost on Wednesday. We just have to prepare as much as possible for that game," said Sutjeska coach Milorad Peković after the match with Dečić.
For the third time this season, Sutjeska was better than Dečić in the league, to whom they were defeated in the Cup.
"An important match for us against a good team from Dečić. We started the game well, in the first half we had some problems defensively, we allowed them a lot of space in the middle zone. But in the second half we played well and deservedly won," Peković pointed out.
So, everything could be over on Wednesday. Sutjeska will host Mladost in Danilovgrad, while Mornar will host Petrovac.
Interestingly, Sutjeska confirmed its last title in Danilovgrad, on April 30, 2022, when it defeated Iskra (3:0) away.
