It was an emotional evening at the "Camp Nou" stadium in Barcelona - the "blaugrana" defeated Betis 3:1 in the 37th round of La Liga, and Robert Lewandowski was in the spotlight.
The Pole is leaving the club at the end of the season, after four years, and tonight he played his last game in front of the home fans. Lewandowski spent 85 minutes on the field, did not score, but missed a good chance a minute before leaving.
And then in the 85th minute, the ovation followed - Lev left the field to the applause of the fans and teammates. The Pole said goodbye to all his teammates and members of the coaching staff, while the fans from the stands chanted his name. The ovation lasted for several minutes, the entire stadium was on its feet, and Lewandowski greeted the fans in grand style.
Lewandowski won three titles, three Spanish Super Cups and one Copa del Rey with Barcelona.
Barcelona made history tonight with a victory over the Andalusian team. The Blaugrana have won all their home matches this season (19), a feat no team in La Liga has achieved in the 38 rounds of the competition.
Hansi Flick's team took the lead in the 28th minute through Rafinha, and the Brazilian scored a second goal in the 62nd minute to make it 2:0. Betis reduced the deficit through Isco from the penalty spot in the 69th, and Cancelo set the final score in the 74th minute.
Barcelona previously secured the title, and in the final round, next Saturday, they will play away to Valencia.
