Polish footballer Robert Lewandowski said that it was an honor to play for Barcelona and stressed that he is proud of everything he has achieved with the Spanish club.
"It was an honor to play for this club. We have enjoyed some great moments in these four years. I am very proud of everything we have achieved together. I am saying goodbye now, but I will always carry Barcelona in my heart. Once a Barça fan, always a Barça fan," Lewandowski said last night after the match against Betis.
Barcelona defeated Betis 3-1 at home last night, in the penultimate round of the Spanish La Liga, and it was also Lewandowski's last match in front of the Catalan club's fans.
Lewandowski, who previously announced that he would be leaving Barcelona at the end of the season, said an emotional farewell to the Nou Camp stadium.
He left the game in the 83rd minute to a standing ovation from the stands and tears in his eyes. His teammates threw him in the air after the game, and also lined up to applaud him as he walked to the locker room.
Lewandowski (37) joined Barcelona in 2022 from Bayern Munich and has since played a total of 192 games and scored 119 goals for the Spanish club.
The Polish striker won three Spanish league titles with Barcelona, as well as three Spanish Super Cup trophies and one Copa del Rey.
